📖 How to Play
The Roles
- The Civilian (Non-Spies): You know the location (e.g., "The Beach") AND your specific role (e.g., "Lifeguard" or "Tourist"). Your goal is to answer questions in character to prove you're not the Spy, without giving away the exact location.
- The Spy: You don't know the location or role. Your goal is to listen carefully, ask vague questions, and figure out the location before time runs out.
Example of Gameplay
Location: The Beach
- Alice (Role: Beach Tourist): "Bob, is this your first time here, or do you come
every day?"
(Alice talks like a normal tourist, only using shared location context) - Bob (Role: Lifeguard): "Every day—I'm on duty here. Carol, do you usually come here
to relax or to work?"
(Bob's answer hints he works at the location without saying his exact role) - Carol (The Spy): (Thinking: Work? Maybe this is an office or co-working
space.) "I spend most of my time at my desk, barely see the outside."
(Her answer doesn't match a sunny outdoor beach) - Dave (Role: Surfer): "Desk? The only thing I'm standing on is my board. That sounds suspicious."

What is Spyfall, and how is it different from Imposter Game?
Spyfall is a social deduction game about guessing a hidden location while playing in character and trying to catch the Spy. Imposter Game focuses more on “similar vs. odd-one-out” word pairs. Both are party games, but the information you need to figure out is different.
What can the Spy see?
The Spy’s screen only shows that they are the Spy—no location and no role details. During the round, they must listen carefully to everyone else’s answers and questions to work out where the game is taking place.
Can the Spy ask questions?
Yes! The Spy plays just like everyone else. Asking questions is a great way to blend in and fish for information.
Do we need to track the timer ourselves?
No. The host panel includes a built-in countdown timer. You can set the game duration before you start, and when time is up our generator alerts the host that the round is over.
How do I use this Spyfall generator?
It's very simple to get started:
- Set Up: Choose your player count, number of spies, and game timer duration.
- Create Roles: Click "Start Game" to generate a secret location and roles for everyone.
- Pass & Play: Hand the device around. Each player taps to see their role, then taps again to hide it before passing to the next person.
Once everyone knows their identity, start the timer and find the Spy!
How many players do I need?
Spyfall works best with 4-10 players. With fewer players, the Spy has a harder time blending in. Our generator automatically adjusts the roles based on your player count.
