The Art of the Question: Advanced Interrogation
It's Not What You Ask, It's How You Ask It
In Spyfall, questions are your ammunition. A weak question gives the Spy information. A
strong question traps them. This guide will take you from asking "What are you doing?" to "If this place
was a movie genre, what would it be?"
📈 Question Levels:
- Level 1: Functional. Basic facts. (Risky)
- Level 2: Associative. Feelings and vibes. (Good)
- Level 3: Psychological. Abstract concepts. (Best)
📊
Chapter 1: The Hierarchy of Questions
Level 1: The Functional Question (Avoid)
These ask about physical reality. They are dangerous because they give hard facts to the Spy.
- "Are we inside?"
- "Is it hot?"
- "Are there many people?"
Level 2: The Associative Question (Good)
These ask about the feeling of the place.
- "How does this place smell?"
- "What kind of shoes should I wear?"
- "Is this a good place for a first date?"
Level 3: The Psychological Question (Master)
These require deep cultural or emotional context that a Spy guessing from a list won't have.
- "If your grandmother saw you here, would she be proud?" (Works for Strip Club vs. Church vs. School).
- "What's the worst thing that could happen to you here?"
🧠
Chapter 2: Advanced Techniques
The "Double Bind"
Ask a question where a "Yes" or "No" answer forces a specific commitment.
- Location: Submarine.
- Question: "Can we open a window for some fresh air?"
- Trap: If they say "Sure," they are the Spy (you'd die). If they say "No," they might be
guessing, but it's a safer bet.
The "Rapid Fire"
If you suspect someone, ask them a question immediately after they answer someone else. Don't give them time
to think. Spies need processing time; Civilians rely on memory.
🛡️
Chapter 3: Answering as a Spy
When faced with a Level 3 question, don't panic.
The "Deflection"
Answer with humor or a personal anecdote that avoids the specific location.
- Question: "Would your grandmother be proud?"
- Spy Answer: "My grandmother is never proud of anything I do." (Funny, deflects, buys
time).
